I love this shot I took of a ship in anacortes. It reminds me a lot of the moon. It was sidelit by some strong halogen or sodium vapor lamps, and really turned out well. I had to stand up pretty high to get the shot over a chainlink fence.

Painting with light is quite a bit of fun. So far, I have had the best luck with a simple penlight. The flash I use is a bit harsh and has a much braoder beam - it doesn't quite give the same effect. And frankly, the beams of light you get using the penlinght are pretty cool.

I'm looking forward to when I get some gels to use with my flash, then maybe I will use it more.
